Dentistry has come a long way over the years. Dentists now use materials that last longer. Additionally, we have equipment that allows us to be more precise and gentle throughout the process of giving a filling. When you visit one of our dental practices in Spring Hill, Crystal River, Tampa or your choice of two Brooksville locations. One off Aerial Way and an office located on Cortez Blvd. We will walk you through everything. We will even hold your hand during the process if it puts you more at ease. Fillings are a simple procedure that you do not need to fret.
Shuayb Dental does not use fillings that contain mercury. We are a mercury-free practice.
That being said, many of our patients that have been to other dental practices still have mercury or silver fillings. Most people would agree that silver and or mercury fillings are not very visually appealing. Additionally, the silver-mercury fillings actually weaken your overall tooth structure.
Tooth colored restorations have multiple benefits. Unlike silver or mercury fillings, composite fillings actually create a bond to the tooth. When the composite bonds to the tooth it will create a stronger structure. Restorations of this type are most commonly used when a majority of the natural tooth structure is no longer present. This is a solution that will first of all leave the remaining tooth structure intact and even make it stronger.
Tooth colored restorations use resin. Most people are not aware that the resin contains fluoride. What does that mean for you? It means that the resin used in the tooth restoration can actually help prevent further tooth decay. Additionally, the resin looks and feels like your natural teeth. Not to mention these types of restorations are not harmful or irritating to your gums like some other types of dental procedures.
This is a relatively simple procedure that will leave you with a beautiful smile you can be proud of.
